Description 

Torres Strait Island Regional Council invites tenders from experienced civil contractors for the Saibai Airport Apron Upgrade and Dauan Island Helipad Road Upgrade.

The Contractor is required to undertake works on Saibai Island to upgrade the existing damaged bitumen refuelling apron area. The upgrade involves the removal of damaged and contaminated bitumen seal and pavement materials and the construction of a concrete slab.
The scope of WUC includes but is not limited to:
• Establishment of Contractors Site Facilities;
• Provision for pedestrians, air traffic, and airport service vehicles;
• Environmental Management;
• Removal of existing bitumen seal (and potentially contaminated gravel);
• Excavation of existing gravel pavement (remove to stockpile);
• Temporary relocation of refuelling equipment (including tanks and pumps);
• Erosion and Sediment Control;
• Preparation of Road Subgrade;
• Construction of approximately 930m2 concrete slab;
• Concrete block work for bunding;
• Line marking of new slab; and
• Bitumen seal to reinstate the disturbed areas adjacent new slab.
WUC shall be carried out in accordance with the construction drawings and FNQROC Development Manual – Version 7 (2017).


SCOPE OF WORKS – SEPARABLE PORTION B
The Contractor is required to construct a concrete roadway and extend a concrete pathway to the recently constructed helicopter pad located on the north-western side of the island.
The scope of works WUC includes but is not limited to:
Establishment of Contractors Site Facilities;
• Provision for Traffic;
• Environmental Management;
• Erosion and Sediment Control;
• Preparation of Road Subgrade;
• Concrete construction of approximately 300m of roadway; and
• Concrete construction of approximately 25m of pathway.
WUC shall be carried out in accordance with the construction drawings and
FNQROC Development Manual – Version 7 (2017).

WUC includes any labour, material, plant and/or services required to fully complete the design intent of the Works. All fees, charges, costs and expenses necessary for the successful completion of the Works shall be deemed included in the contract sum. Any matters of construction and workmanship which are obviously intended, but which may not be referred to in the Specification or drawings and which are usually to be found in sound construction practice and are essential to WUC, are deemed to be included in the Contract.
