Due to damage that resulted from flooding events in March 2018 and again in March 2019, Douglas Shire Council requires 
restoration works to be undertaken to rehabilitate / reconstruct essential infrastructure.  

The Project involves stabilisation of a slipped section of the roadside cutting on Syndicate road in Mossman. The 
site is located approximately 2.5 km west of the Syndicate Road intersection with Mossman-Daintree Road. 
Douglas Shire Council (DSC) has carried out interim works, consisting of debris removal, superficial batter 
profiling and installation of a light-weight barrier along the crest line. 

Materials exposed within the failure backscarp broadly consist of moderately to extremely weathered mudstone, 
locally transitioning to residual soil near the slope crest.  The apparent failure mechanism was assessed to be a quasi-rotational slide within the upper residual soil and 
extremely weathered material, extending to down to approximately 8 m below the crest. 

Douglas Shire Council seeks the services of a construction services entity with the prerequisite skills, resources, 
capabilities and experience in slope stabilisation works to deliver the required repair to the failed slope
