Council is tasked with the provision of both urban and rural services across this large region and numerous townships. Services include: road construction; maintenance works; water supply and sewerage systems; parks and gardens services; administrative, regulatory and community services and a range of other responsibilities including natural disaster management and solid waste services to name just a few.
The organisation was formed following amalgamation of Councils in 2008 and many of the facilities pre-existed this time and many delivery processes were formed in the current configuration at the time of amalgamation based on prior practices.
Council aims to develop a compliance strategy for quarries and gravel pits throughout the Central Highlands Regional Council as the first step of a broad review of Council’s gravel production operations which will follow in future projects.
